Stevie Ward new five year commitment to Leeds Rhinos.
Stevie Ward has extended his contract at Leeds Rhinos in a move that cements his commitment to the Super League club. His new contract comes with a new shirt number as Stevie is to play in the converted number 13 shirt.
Although the extension to Stevie Ward’s contract hasn’t really come as a surprise, the fact that he now gets to wear the number 13 shirt previously occupied by Kevin Sinfield, is what’s getting Stevie excited.
“Taking over the shirt from Kevin is a massive honour. Kevin Sinfield has worn the number 13 shirt since I was six years old and even as a kid I knew that I wanted to play for Leeds Rhinos and wear that shirt”.
Stevie Ward’s season is done and he is looking at a tough couple of months recovering from the knee injury sustained in the game against Huddersfield Giants. He undergoes knee surgery on Monday, but will miss the rest of this season.
At 21 Stevie Ward already has an impressive League carrier, with 82 appearances and 11 tries at Leeds Rhinos. Next season might be his toughest yet and the one that he wants to stand out. Kevin Sinfields number 13 shirt has a lot to live up to.
