Leigh Halfpenny linked with Aviva Premiership Wasps.
Toulon Full-back Leigh Halfpenny could be heading to London instead of Wales in a Wasps deal that could see him leave Toulon at the end of his contract.
Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has suggested that Halfpenny could be heading back to the UK in a Wasp jersey rather than going back to Wales as originally thought. Assuming that is, that Leigh Halfpenny decides not to extend his Toulon contract at the end of the season.
The basis for this train of thought is down to the fact that Dai Young (Director of Rugby at London Wasps) is looking to strengthen the squad and replace and Charles Piutau who is leaving for Ulster at the end of the season.
Newly minted Wasps are looking to build and buy using their recent cash excess from the relocation to Coventry. Dai Young wants to use the cash to strengthen at the highest level, which puts Halfpenny in his sights.
“There’s no point in me saying too much at this stage, but this is recruitment season and we are looking at getting the best for us”. Dai Young
