Greg Holmes

Greg Holmes the Aussie Prop to Exeter Chiefs.

Wallabies international Greg Holmes is heading for the UK to join the Exeter Chiefs from the Queensland Reds.

Greg HolmesThis will be Greg’s first move away from Australia and one that he knows will be a challenge. Head Coach Rob Baxter is delighted that Exeter managed to lure Greg Holmes away from the Reds on a two year deal. The Aviva Premier league is a different game and atmosphere to what Greg is used to, but it’s a challenge that he is looking forward to.

Rob Baxter explained what Holmes brings to the team in a comment that sums up what he is looking for. “He is a prop who likes to take part in the game, he’s not just a set-piece prop, and his all-round package will suit us down to the ground. As I said, we’ve looked at the way he has played for the Reds and for Australia and we like what we see.”

Greg Holmes played a solid game in the World Cup earlier in the year, marking his 24th outing for the Wallabies. He has also been a solid fixture in the Aussie Super League with 132 appearances for the Queensland Reds, so it is no great surprise that Baxter is over the moon with the two year deal.
